First Days in Denmark

The view from my room!

Hello friends, and welcome to my blog! I will be documenting my life during the time period May23-July22, 2013, in which I will be traveling in Europe!

This is actually my first time in Europe. I'm here as part of an international collaboration between Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and Denmark Technical University (DTU). I will be working on Wind Turbine Modeling for Computational Fluid Dynamics, which is what I've been doing for the last three years now.

Denmark was epic! It all started Thursday morning in Baltimore, MD. My friends Xi and Ismail gave me a ride to the airport! I got there on time for my flight which was leaving at 1:49 from BWI to JFK. It turned out that my flight had been canceled, so they drove me to Dulles airport and then I got on another flight from there to Amsterdam. The flight got delayed for about 2 hours, because of bad weather but I finally made it! I then moved around Amsterdam airport towards my gate to get on my flight to Copenhagen. We were on the plane about to leave and then someone had an issue and had to leave the flight. Then we remained in the plane for a while until they got the luggage out. Finally I left and got to Copenhagen!!! Mario picked me up, we became good friends really fast! He is Mexican and has been in Denmark for ~10 years! We went on the train home and then took a bus. I finally got home and took a nap.

Later I got groceries, oh that was hard, I didn't recognize any of the brands and it was all in Danish. So I got all my stuff (it took me a while) and when I'm at the register they wouldn't take my card, because I needed a PIN. I walked around, got some cash and finally payed for my groceries and went back home.

Later Mario was having a friend come over who would let me know where they play soccer around. It turned out into a party with people from Chile, Argentina, Spain, London, Italy, ect! It was fun! Then we all went to a club, had some beer, danced and finally I went back home at around 4:30am.

Yes, it was an epic first day in Denmark!
